After considering all trail options the Granger Grind Race Committee has decided to alter the announced trail route for the race this coming weekend (Feb 25th/26th). Due to trail conditions we had to reroute parts of the trail which resulted in a shortened route to avoid some steep downhills with minimal snow cover. On the positive side the current race trail is in a great shape and will guarantee a fun race!
The race route will now go from Lorne Mountain Community Centre, over McConnell Lake, up Alligator Lake trail, over Friday Creek to Coal Lake and then down via Fish Lake to the Sky High Checkpoint. The return route will be the same. The distance will be 40 miles each leg. To not interfere with Sky High Wilderness Ranch’s touring business the race will start 1/2 hrs later at 2pm. Musher’s meeting at 11.30AM. For more information on the race please visit our blog: https://dpsay.wordpress.com/mid-distance-race/.
As the distances changed, we will reopen registration and there will be no late entry fee. Teams can sign up until the musher’s meeting on Saturday Feb 25th 11.30AM at the Lorne Mountain Community Centre.
Up until now we have a total purse of $2400 (and going up with every new entry) – which will be paid out to the first ten sled teams and the first three skijor teams respectively.
A big thanks to our sponsors Lotteries Yukon, Sky High Wilderness Ranch, Muktuk Adventures, The Feed Store, Yukon Yamaha, Icy Waters and Yukon Brewing.
See you on Saturday,
The Granger Grind Race Committee
