Poker Run – Fundraiser for the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter and Last hot hound race of the season !‏

On September 27th at 3 pm, join us in the Ibex Valley for a POKER RUN/WALK open to EVERYBODY and last hot hound race of the season. ALL PROFITS WILL GO TO THE MAE BACHUR ANIMAL SHELTER !! This event will be a play in 3 acts 🙂

Act 1: POKER RUN/WALK (License# 2015-105)

Everybody of all ages, with or without dog is invited to come and raise funds for the Mae Bachur Animal shelter. For only $15, come run or walk, with or without a dog, and get the chance to win one of the three prizes generously donated by:

–        Air North: Air North flights for 2 ($900)1

–        Muktuk Adventures: a half day dog sledding for 2 people ($417.90)2

–        Sky High Wilderness Ranch: Gift certificate ($200)2.

You can run or walk with or without your dog to have the chance to win one these great prices and to benefit your local shelter.

Act 2: DPSAY HOT HOUND DRYLAND RACE

DPSAY will host the last dryland race of the season. Want to try bikejoring or canicrossing? This is your chance! Or just come and watch the excitement of the dogs! There will be:

–        A 1 mile course for bikejoring and/or canicrossing with one dog

–        A 2 miles course for bikejoring with one or two dogs.

Participants will have the chance to win prizes generously donated by Yukon Brewing, Cadence cycle, Icycle sports, Air North, Baked,The Feed Store/Pet Junction, Muktuk Adventures Kennel. Registration fees are $5 for each 1 mile and 2 miles races if you are a current DPSAY member, and $10 if you are not. A DPSAY membership is $15 for individuals and $25 for kennels (up to 4 people).

Act 3: BONFIRE

Stay and enjoy our bonfire, bring snacks, drinks, games, or just relax after, you will earn it !! After the excitement of the Poker Run and Race to share your stories, learn about the fun activities you can do with your dog all year round, and have your pooch socialize! DPSAY will provide a BBQ for those who’d like to use it.

WHEN?

September 27th, registration starts at 3 pm. The Poker Run will start at 4 pm, followed by the race. 

WHERE?

The old YDMA (Yukon Dog Mushers Association) trails in the Ibex Valley. Head towards Haines Junction on the Alaska Highway, you will see a sign on the right at about 8 km from the cutoff with the North Klondike Highway. It will be just passed the second access to the Old Alaska Highway.

HOW?

Just come and have fun, with your doggy friend or not! Bring appropriate shoes for dirt trails, warm clothes and a camping chair. Water will be available for dogs. This is THEIR day, bring treats as well 😉

WHO?

DPSAY (Dog Powered Sports Association) is a non-profit organization to promote sports activities with one or several dogs. We host a variety of events including our summer “Hot Hound Races” (bikejoring and skijoring), our winter “Twister Races” and mid-distance race (Dog sledding and skijoring), educational workshops. 1.  Travel from Whitehorse to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton or Kelowna. Some blackout dates apply. Winner to pay applicable fees and taxes. Valid for travel between Jan 15/16 and Dec 15/16.
