Spring/Summer Trail Updates
UPDATE Oct. 3, 2009 – The 2009/10 Road Runner will be 100 miles, from Whitehorse – Haines Junction. We will be announcing the official race date early next week, so stay tuned!
DPSAY is looking at getting a 100/200 mile race from Whitehorse to Haines Junction going for this upcoming winter. The board approved the go-ahead on preliminary work for this race tonight!
So, we are not wasting any time – trail reconnaissance is slated to start this Saturday July 11 at 1pm and we are looking for VOLUNTEERS! We will all meet at the Mayo Road cutoff at 1pm and bring your quad if you have one. We’ll attempt to “blaze a trail” to Mendenhall. Quads aren’t mandatory, as we can take turns with the ones we do have, and there may be an extra quad or two.
The board has allowed to offer $20/quad for gas and Icy Waters has generously offered up some fillets for your hard work!
Come on out everyone! Especially you mid-distance racers – here’s your chance to help out and have a say on the race trail before it’s set! Plus we could use all the help/advice we can get, so any help is appreciated! You can also leave a comment/suggestion here. See you on Saturday!
Race? What race? It's summer, we're chillin' and relaxing...
Just heard about this, Great to here about a longer race beeing planned, missing the Silver sled. I have a brushing attachment for my Kabota tractor, if you need any trail work done I’ll volunteer for a contribution to the fuel. It cuts a 6′ wide trail and will go through willow, buck brush and poplar up to 2″ thick.

Hi Bryan, good to run into you the other day and thanks for the offer of help! We will definitely be asking for volunteers when we start trail grooming. I’ll be posting to the website more regularly now that we’re in active planning mode for the race! Next week we will have a FINAL date, looks like it is going to be well after the New Year and it will be 100-miles this year – from Whitehorse-HJ.
